One Year Anniversary

Nearly a year has passed since our purchase on August 19th! Renaming the retreat Mountain Light, we began to restore the buildings and engage folks with programs that have included festive harp music in the church, inspiring House Gatherings around John Philip Newell’s recent book, Celtic festival celebrations, labyrinth walks, a most peaceful Mindfulness Day, an incredible Healing Grief Retreat, and a Poetry Retreat that has launched our own Poetry Anthology. The display of Janet McKenzie’s Stations of the Cross in Lent, as well as the Charlottesville Camera Club’s photo exhibit Flora, piqued interest from the community, who found the exhibits and the historic church itself uplifting. Hosting the Area Spiritual Directors and Bread & Roses brought new folks to the Retreat, along with new ideas and well wishes. As we move into Year Two, please continue to hold the Retreat in prayer, as we seek to serve all who desire a place to be contemplative. We are so very full of gratitude for all those who have encouraged and supported our effort.
